Trump and U.S. Government should declare to support Korean People.

The true nature of the baseless confidence displayed by three stubborn Constitutional Court judges has been revealed. The remarks of the acting U.S. ambassador to South Korea or ambassador candidates influence the confidence of three judges. Last December, an U.S. Congressional investigative report, reflecting the perspectives of American neo-conservatives, crossed the Pacific and incited rebellion in South Korea. Now, far-right forces are hinting at military operation and the second emergency martial law.
There exists a big misconception. The decisive failure of the December 3 rebellion lies in the fact that the soldiers were unwilling to fire bullets. The field commanders were well aware of the soldiers’ attitude and they did not follow orders from their superiors. Why did the soldiers act that way? Because they have developed the ability to judge for themselves that they can never point a gun to their own citizens under any circumstances. It is partly because the times have changed and partly due to Korean’s unique characteristics.
The tragic oppression in 1980 was partly due to soldiers who were uninformed and misled by the false information of North Korean involvement. Just in case, let’s assume Yoon returns and a second martial law is implemented. And let’s assume by some stroke of luck, they managed to mobilize a treasonous type of obedient military force. Then, do you think they would be able to suppress the Korean people? It is a completely impossible imagination. Korea is different from other countries where military coups have succeeded. It is difficult to achieve success through force when in conflict with the people. Not only are there 2.73 million official reserve forces, but all South Korean men are practically active-duty soldiers when they are given a gun.
Did you forget ‘Rooftoop Koreans’? Are you unaware of the myth from LA where Korean people voluntarily organized a militia to suppress the rioters when a crisis broke out? Such confidence is overflowing among Korean citizens. Even woman like Ahn Gui-ryeong from the National Assembly, as seen four months ago, possess that confidence within themselves.
Let’s examine China which the U.S. is concerned about. Since October 1950, when Chinese forces crossed the Yalu River, South Koreans have never trusted China. It is not a matter of emotion. It is because China dislikes sharing a border with a hostile nation. When nations share a border, problems are bound to arise. This is the law of history. China dislikes a unified Korea just as much as the U.S. or Japan.
The Problem facing the United States is that South Korea has grown too powerful. The once obedient underling has suddenly grown into a mid-level boss. Resistance are coming from BRICS, Canada, and Latin America. And quiet opposition from Japan cause growing anxiety to the U.S. However, impatience alone cannot solve the problem. It is because of Korean people. There is no way to do anything about this.
The Korean people also are well aware of this principle, ‘distant diplomacy and close defense.’ No matter how close the relationship becomes, China will always remain an eternal adversary. China can inflict harm at any time with just a single reach. No matter how strained the relationship becomes, the United States remains an eternal ally because it is far away. Korean people understands this kind of physical law very well. Lee Jae-myung cannot escape this category either.
However, emotions should not be hurt. The example is the defense of the current insurrectionist. If a sense of betrayal arises, it lasts for a long time. For over the past 100 years, the Korean people have persistently worked to build a democratic society. It aligns with the values that the U.S. pursues. Despite this, what would the perception of the United States be if it deliberately engaged in actions that damage the common values. When emotions are hurt, they cloud rational judgement. The American people and Trump must stop the performing antics of certain factions within the United States.
The U.S. must now respect the choice of the Korean people. Trump must be able to erase the words and actions of certain individuals who have supported the Constitutional Court’s obstinacy. American President must immediately remove the individuals who repeatedly make such baseless remarks, even for ‘the conversation with Kim Jong-un’ that you constantly bring up yourself.
The United States must stop making misjudgments and officially declare support for the will of the Korean people, rather than backing an acting adminstration. And thus, the Constitutional Court which is being stubborn, must restore its senses. This is the way to earn the trust of the Korean people, and build a genuine South Korea-U.S. alliance.
It must be done right now.
