“Japan, stop dumping your nuclear wastewater into the ocean!”
Our rally in front of the Japanese embassy in Washington DC demanding immediate withdrawal of their nuclear wastewater dumping
“Japan has dumped over 60,000 tons of their nuclear wastewater into the ocean, the mother of all life, eight times so far. If this atrocity is not stopped immediately, we will all perish.” On the 7th, a rally was held in front of the Japanese embassy in Washington DC to demand that the Japanese government stop dumping nuclear wastewater. The ‘Global Citizens’ March to Stop Nuclear Wastewater Dumping’, which led the protest in front of the UN headquarters in New York last July, visited the US again and raised its voice by marching from the Japanese embassy to the White House. Lee Won-young, a former professor at Suwon University from Korea, said, “In the US, Massachusetts and New York prohibit dumping even the smallest amount of radioactivity contained in the cooling water of nuclear power plants, so I cannot understand how the US government tolerates Japan’s nuclear wastewater dumping into the ocean,” expressing indignation, “We can no longer stand by and watch the Earth be destroyed.” The Global Citizens’ March protested 1,600km from Seoul to Tokyo last summer, saying, “We must stand up and protest and hold them accountable.” They are continuing the march in Washington and L.A. ahead of the U.S. presidential election next month. They said, “We hope that our strong message will be delivered to the White House and the two candidates facing the presidential election in November,” and appealed, “Stop dumping nuclear wastewater into the ocean!”
