“I don’t know why they want to throw it into the sea. No matter how diluted it is, the absolute amount of radioactivity remains the same. The marine ecosystem is destroyed.”

Former Professor Lee Won-young (Suwon University, leader of the New Silk Road for Life and No-Nukes), who walked from Seoul to the Vatican to deliver the message of post-nuclear life, will walk 1,500km between Korea and Japan to stop dumping radioacitve water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan.

On the 18th, Professor Lee started the ‘Korean and Japanese Citizens walking March to Prevent Dumping of Radioactive Water’ in Gwanghwamun.

Prof. Lee and others said in the ‘Korean Citizens Leaving Seoul’, “The Japanese government must stop willfully destroying all life. The terrorism that destroys humanity must be stopped.” He continued, “Now the owner of the global village has to step in. Citizens of Korea and Japan are walking to remind them of this and try to prevent dumping of radioacitve water. If we walk together, we can achieve it.”

On the first day of the walk, people walked 6.6km from the statue of Admiral Yi Sun-sin in Gwanghwamun to Wangsimni Station.

Professor Lee Won-young said, “I received applause from many citizens while walking.“

Attorney Jeong Cheol-seung (former president of Korean Society of Legislation Studies) left a message on the walking march message book. “Japan has already killed tens of millions of Asian people in several wars. How much more do you want to commit the crime? President Yoon Seok-yeol should immediately stop the treason that causes irreparable damage to the people and country by participating in Japan’s great crime. It is a great sin that even your life cannot wash away.”

To oppose the dumping of radioactive water from the nuclear power plant, they walk about 1,600 km for 86 days.

Professor Lee Won-young said, “We will record the messages of Korean and Japanese citizens who meet while walking about 20km a day, a total of 1,500km, and deliver them to the Japanese National Assembly, the Japanese Cabinet, and the Korean government and the National Assembly.”
